Production Development:
Early attempts and cancellation
In 1997, David S. Goyer had written a script for a movie with the Marvel Comics character Venom, which was to be produced by New Line Cinema. Dolph Lundgren was in talks to star in the film, which would feature the character Carnage as the main antagonist.
The project did not advance, and the character’s rights were transferred to Sony Pictures along with those of the Spider-Man character, of whom Venom is an antagonist in the comics. Eddie Brock, Venom’s alter ego, would appear in Sony’s Spider-Man 3 (2007), with Topher Grace on paper.
Grace intended to appear briefly as Brock, but he became a great villain as much as Brock as Venom because producer Avi Arad felt that the series had been based too much on Spider-Man’s favorite personal villains. from director Sam Raimi, and not in such modern characters.
The fans were really interested. Raimi had hesitated to explore the character due to his “lack of humanity.” Arad revealed plans for a derivative film centered on Venom in July 2007.
VENOM 2 Movie filming:
The main photography began on October 23, 2017, with filming in Atlanta and New York. Matthew Libatique served as director of photography, while Oliver Scholl served as production designer after doing so for Spider-Man: Homecoming. It was confirmed that Williams joined the film in November, and Sony organized its filming schedule to ensure its availability for new and simultaneous summaries in All the Money in the World (2017).
In December, Woody Harrelson was in talks to appear in the movie. , [81] and it was revealed that Williams played Anne Weying. According to several reports, Tom Holland spent several days during the production of Venom filming a cameo-like Peter Parker / Spider-Man for the movie, but Marvel Studios asked Sony to exclude the scene from the final movie.
Postproduction of cinema:
It was confirmed that Ahmed and Scott would appear in the film in February 2018, and it was revealed that Will Beall had written more about the script. In the following months, it was revealed that Sope Aluko and Scott Deckert participated in the film, It was also confirmed that Haze and Harrelson would appear, and it was revealed that Ahmed played Carlton Drake Harrelson,
who previously worked with Fleischer in Zombieland (2009), signed the film for a small role, described himself as “in a small fraction of this film”, knowing that he would have a more important part in a possible sequel [91] It was revealed that the role was that of Cletus Kasady, Carnage’s alter ego.
VENOM 2 Movie music:
Main article: Venom (soundtrack)
Ludwig Göransson signed to compose the Venom score in March 2018, meeting with Fleischer after the couple worked together in 30 minutes or less (2011). In August, rapper Eminem joked that he had contributed a new song to the Venom soundtrack. His album Kamikaze was released later that month and features an additional song called “Venom (Music from the Motion Picture)” that refers to the movie.
The song was released by Aftermath Records as a digital single for the film on September 23. An album with the Göransson score was released digitally by Sony Classical Records on October 5, with a physical release later that month.
VENOM 2 Movie Marketing:
For the Sony Pictures panel in Comic-Con Experience 2017, Fleischer and Hardy appeared in a video of the movie set to promote it. In February 2018, a teaser was released for the film, which Dani Di Placido de Forbes called “comically disappointing.” He felt that this was a big misstep by Sony since the teaser was destined to win over Spider-Man fans who were not interested, particularly after the character’s representation in Spider-Man 3.
The fact that the teaser did not include the title character was a common criticism by commentators. Sony President Tom Rothman later acknowledged this, explaining that the intention had been to “increase anticipation” for the film. In August, Fleischer revealed that the trailer did not show Venom because the visual effects for the character were incomplete at that time.
